Review | Shiseido Natural Finish Cream Concealer

by Jess on Monday, April 18th, 2011 · 20 comments

Using concealer is one of the most important steps of the makeup routine to achieve a flawless complexion. So, no need to say that pursuing the perfect concealer is part of my ‘beauty-concerned-life’. Finding the product that combines the perfect consistency and finish, as well as the perfect shade can be quite a challenge.

Today’s review is about the Shiseido Natural Finish Cream Concealer in Light 1, which I have been using almost every single day for about 3 months.

Shiseido Natural Finish Cream Concealer  ~ Light 1

Packaging
Shiseido Natural Finish Cream Concealer comes in a small squeeze tube, which is handy and hygienic. The tube contains 10 ml of product.

Shade
Light 1 is the lightest shade out of the 5 shades available. It is the perfect shade for my NC 15 skintone. What makes this shade work out that great for me, is the fact it has a more yellow undertone to it, which perfectly evens out the redness that shows through my fair skin.

Consistency and Coverage
The creamy consistency is non-drying (even on my delicate under eye area that does show fine dry lines), blends easily and evenly into the skin. While it provides a superb coverage, it still remains looking absolutely natural. I use it both for my under eye area, as well as for hiding red spots and pimples. The crease-less formulation stays put a 10 hours day with ease.

Availability and Price
Shiseido Natural Finish Cream Concealer is available internationally at Shiseido counters and department stores. Retail price is 25,00 USD.

Verdict
Shiseido Natural Finish Cream Concealer ~ Light 1 fulfills pretty much all requirements that I’m looking for in a good concealer. The interaction of the shade, texture, coverage and finish leaves little to be desired. A further thing that pleases me a lot, is the fact that this little tube lasts really long! Only a tiny bit of product is sufficient for the entire face!

If you are looking for a very light shaded concealer without the pink undertone, in order to fight redness and red spots, striving after a non-drying, creamy concealer with good coverage that still looks all natural, this product is definitely worth to be checked out!

Thanks for the review Jess! I will definitely be looking out for this product the next time I spot a Shiseido counter! Although I have hyperigmentation sometimes from acne..even Mac Studio concealer doesn’t conceal it..I wonder if this one is heavy enough coverage to cover?

Jess April 18, 2011 at 00:35

Jian, I’m glad this review helped you! Since I have not tried the MAC Studio concealer yet, I am not able to say how it compares. The coverage is superb but definitely not heavy duty like camouflage of course!

Btw love to read this type of review. =D

Yinnie April 18, 2011 at 00:35

I’m definitely going to get me one in duty free this year!

Do you use fingers or brush?

You are welcome, Yinnie! Glad you liked this review! I prefer using a foundation brush (MAC 190 is my favorite foundation brush)!

Cherry, you will just need the tiniest amount of this cream concealer, since your skin is so flawless already! ;)

Jie Jie April 18, 2011 at 04:09

Thanks for the review, especially on the fine lines (under eye area) and natural finish. You’ve addressed my concern adequately. I will definitely try it out at Shiseido counter.

I’ve also bought the Chanel Coco Rouge after reading your review:)

Jess April 18, 2011 at 05:31

Jie Jie, yes fine lines are always a big issue, huh? Do let me know what you think about it, once you tried it at the counter, ok?
Yay for Chanel Rouge Coco Shine! Which shade did you get? ;)

Jie Jie April 18, 2011 at 18:10

Yup, definitely:)

I got the 59 Elise, closer to my lip tone.

Sound like a great product! I just bought a new concealer from Laura Mercier but if I ever have the chance to hunt for a concealer again, I will definitely check this out.

Very rare would you come by a concealer that has A star grading! I’m impressed! I must agree with you that the tube formulation is sooo much better, but without a compromise in the creamy texture. Thanks for a great review!

I would love to see a before and after picture, I’m not so big on cream texture for concealer as I find it crease easily, but it’s it’s just me :)
